Erosion and Sediment Control
Erosion and Sediment Control (ESC) plays a crucial role in any development or construction process and is often a requirement to obtain a development permit or a building permit. It is also a requirement to adhere to environmental laws preventing the release of deleterious substances into fish-bearing waters.
Why would you need an ESC?
Construction sites with exposed soils are subject to stormwater runoff that can erode disturbed soils, causing sediment mobilization off-site which has the potential to negatively contribute significant amounts of sediment (soil) to the surrounding environment. This can further have downstream impacts on drainage and fish bearing water courses. Erosion and sediment control Best Management Practices (BMP’s ) are essential to maintaining a clean waterway and a healthy ecosystem that supports all aquatic wildlife. It is essential for BMP’s to be in place prior to, during and after construction activities have occurred on the job site.
L&M believes that construction sites can be sustainably managed by considering the appropriate selection and utilization of infrastructure solutions and by minimizing impacts through efficient earthworks, project sequencing, and BMP’s. We have certified professionals in erosion and sediment control that can provide expertise in developing effective site and project-specific design plans to mitigate the effects of erosion on your site. Our erosion and sediment control services include:
- Site-Specific Erosion and Sediment Control Design Plans
- Erosion & Sediment Control Inspection and Reporting
- Installation & Maintenance Inspection
- Site Drainage Plans and Design of Settling Ponds
